What A Week - 7th to 13th December

Saturday 6th December will be a day to remember for a long time - such was the great fun we had at Maggie's House Party. With great company, good food and a dream dance studio at home plus wonderful music provided by yours truly, the DJ, we had a whale of a time dancing the night away - line dances, bachata and cha cha cha progressive, rock 'n' roll, disco rock..........

Sunday the 7th - after our Sunday LD session, we forgo our usual tai chi session for a special ' X'mas Baking Class by Ms Laureen Lim - the talented daughter of Chris and Maggie Lim. Laureen showed us how to prepare and bake Christmas cookies, cupcakes and log cake with ready cooked 'samples' for us to have with our Christmas lunch after the class....yummy!

Monday, 8th - it was meant to be a QUIET holiday to be spent at home - this was not to be after a telephone call from danzbuddies Bessie who was already at Maggie's after the Botanical Gardens linedance session got rained out - so a group of them ended up at Swettenham Close Dance Studio (again!) . We join them for another session and lunch, after which we all went shopping at Maggie's fav shopping haunt - City Plaza.

Wednesday, 10th - we had a good line dance session, with the following dances taught:
'Cupfull of Bitter Wine', 'Lost In Your Eyes', 'Cuckoo', and 'El Mismo Tren' .

Thursday, 11th - our Social danzbuddies group got together for an informal 'cha cha cha' revision session for those who need more practice, also to try out our New Year Eve Countdown Dance. I think it will go well on 31st .....

Friday , 12th - not our usual Friday night jam session - with not one, two, or three but four 'Special Guests' . We had Celina and Hoe making a special visit to teach us their 'Teddy Bears Waltz'. What a special treat it was to have a visit from Joe Lim and wife Nancy (together they are called Joenan). So, we did all of Joe's choreographed dances - 'lady pocahontas', 'that is love',
'party line cha' and 'yummy yum cha'. Joe taught us his 'Nashville' dance.

Saturday, 13th - a real busy day for us. Starting from 7.30 am, going to Tekka for breakfast and to buy 'cendol' and 'popcorn' stuff for the evening party. Then on to tanglin CC to finalise arrangements for 'Yellow Ribbon Charity Drive and Dance Party' jointly orgaized with Tanglin WEC.

Guest of Honour , RADM Lui Tuck Yew, our MP arrived promptly at 4.00 pm to witness the many donations made by danzbuddies and friends to the Highpoint Thrift Shop run by ex-prisoners. He then joined us in the hall for the 'macarena' dance and officially do a 'hand over' of donated items to Highpoint Thriftshop representative.

A big THANK YOU for the great many items donated and for the overwhelming support of the line dance party - another 'sold-out' eveny with 160 participants.
