danzbuddies Wednesday Class - dances to share

hi danzbuddies,

details of dances we shall be sharing this week are as follows:

- 'Double Dose' by Peter Jones. 32-count, 4-wall, beginner level dance. The song used is a great rock 'n' roll classic 'Rockin' Pnuemonia And The Boogie Woogie Flu'. Many artistes have recorded this song - we are using the version sang by Jeannie C Riley. Steps are easy to catch and they go well with the song.....

- 'Rock N Love' by Peter & Allison. 64-count, 4-wall, intermediate level. Danced to another nice Rock N Roll number - 'Bleeding Love' by The Baseballs. Although at 64 counts, the dance routine is fairly easy and should be no problem for all....

- 'MamboSA' by Ria Vos. 32-count, 4-wall, intermediate level dance. The song is "Wie Se Kiind is Jy" by Dr. Hook, a great mambo number! Music needs getting used to, but will grow on you after you manage the dance.

- 'Baby Doll Waltz' by Larry Bass. 48-count, 2-wall, waltz dance. Beginner level. Nice slow number - 'Shake Me, I Rattle' by Lisa Brokop. A 'no stress' dance......should stick with the line dancers for a long time to come.

With so much interest in South Africa we are bringing back:

- 'Mamma Afrika" by Gerard Murphy from way back in 2001. 32-count, 4-wall, intermediate level. Song used is 'Mamma Africa' by Two in One. A great classic.

danzbuddies party - 22nd May 2010

Saturday, 22nd May 2010

It was time for another 'danzbuddies' party at Tanglin CC as more than a hundred dancers gathered once again to strut their stuff with host Rosemary........

In addition to danzbuddies members, we had a good mix of guests from various other groups. Once again we thank them for their support.

Something special being offered for dinner as the "Food Catering' brigade went about getting the 'soto ayam' served to every table.

Once again, the verdict was a resounding "A ok !" from the diners - its going to make Rosli's mum very happy when I give her the feedback.......

After the dinner, we had another treat coming - our favourite 'green bean soup' offered by 'Xaoi Li' from the canteen - its always popular, especially after it 'passed the taste test' from our AVA man, Philip....!

More dancing followed and there was plenty of action on the dance floor.......as can be seen from some of the dancers cught in action on camera.......

Our fringe activity for this party was a "Crime Prevention' Exhibition and Quiz organised with assistance from the Kampong Java Neighbourhood Police Centre......

Sgt Sofri and Cpl Fazlan were very helpful in putting up the
exhibition and more than generous in giving away all kinds
of souvenirs to all who visited the exhibition booth............

Quiz time got many excited as they vie for the chance to win that Cold Storage Shopping voucher..........

Moulmein FLC 'Social Dance Nite' ..........

Also happening on Saturday night was the Moulmein FLC's 'Social Dance Nite' and many danzbuddies took the opportunity to brush up on their cha cha cha, merengue and bachata over at the 'Social Dance' hall........

All in all, it was a great party....with a great dance list, good food and nice company.......
Thanks again to all who came for the support.

Special THANKS to Maizie, Tang, May and the rest of the DJ crew for their help with the dee jay service.......
And a BIG THANK YOU to Alan Khoo for all the photos which appear in this article......

So, til we see you on the Tanglin CC dance floor again, dance on, stay healthy and be happy......
The next 'danzbuddies' Line Dance Partuy at Tanglin CC is on Saturday June 19th......
It's 'bachang' - dumpling festival time, so come and join us in having a 'bachang party'.

danzbuddies Wednesday Class - dances to be shared

hi danzbuddies,

details of dances we are sharing this week are as follows:

- 'Wakira' by Maggie Gallagher. 32-count, 4-wall, intermediate level dance. Danced to the song 'Waka Waka' by Shakira. This is the song we'll be hearing a lot of in the coming months - its the official song for the 2010 Fifa World Cup....dance is fairly easy....not a fantastic choreography but we think it'll catch on....

- 'Homeward Bound' by Paul & Karla Dormstedt. 64-count, 4-wall, beginner level dance. Very nice song used - 'Take Me Home' by Tol & Tol. Although there are 8 sections in the dance routine, there are several 'mirrors' - so its really an easy dance.

- 'Yolanda' by Kate Sala & Robbie McGowan Hickie. Another great dance coming from Kate and Robbie......Although the step sheet is not yet available, the dance is already gaining popularity - steps are easy but well crafted to go with the beautiful song by Joe Merrick - 'Yolanda'. We're sure it'll be a big hit.

- 'Let's Do the Shake' by OS Ong. A phrased dance using a great cha cha number by Alice Ong. A great choreography - dance routine fits the song well. A good dance for all cha cha enthusiasts.

We shall also be sharing the following 'blast from the past' dance :

- 'Funky Cha Cha' by Barry Durand. 32-count, 4-wall, intermediate level dance. A classic still very popular at parties. The Kenny G number 'Havana' is song which makes the dance so enjoyable......

danzbuddies Wednesday Class - new dances

hi danzbuddies,

here are details of dances we will be sharing this week:

- 'Beach Party' by Robbie Carrington. 32-count, 2-wall, Beginner level . This is a very basic level cha cha cha dance ..... some will find it a little too simple, but never mind ! - enjoy it for the great music that goes with it - song is 'A La Playa' by SBS.

- 'Lucky Lips' by Peter Thijssen. 64-count, 4-wall, beginner level. Not to be confused with the previous choreography. This new choreography is easier and steps go well with the song - use the Cliff Richard or the Magnificent 7 versions.

- 'Rah-Rah Ooh La La' by Jo & John Kinser and Mark Furnell. A phrased dance. 2-wall, Intermediate level. Nice Lady Gaga song - 'Bad Romance'. Note the tag at end of wall 4 and restart on walls 5.

We shall be bringing back two 'blast from the past' dances:

- 'Baby Blues" by Tina Argyle. 48-count, 4-wall, beginner level. No tag, no restart. Danced to a good song 'Blues About You Baby' by Plain Loco. Easy steps that go well with the song. A nice enjoyable dance.

- 'Sorry' by Martin Ritchie. 32-count, 4-wall , beginner level. No tag, no restart. A real classic. Using a very catchy song - 'Saying Sorry' by The Borderers.

Max to the Vet, Again

Tuesday 11 May 2010

Max's constipation problem wasn't getting better and we had to bring him to James Tan Vetinerary Hospital again for treatment. We were happy to see that Dr Jean and assistant Siew Lan were still at the clinic - they had been treating Max since Sep 2006, so were familiar with his case.

Max stayed at the clinic for 7 hours - had his 'operation' under G.A. and came home all weak, hungry and groggy..... And the bill - we paid $281.40 this time......
