Letter to Forum Page, Straits Times
Mon. March 9th 2009
Reading the reply from Minister Mentor's Principal Private Secretary Mr Chee Hong Tat really got me all worked up - I felt that his words "It would be stupid for any Singapore agency or NTU to advocate the learning of dialect.........." was a bit strong.
I hope my letter in reply will be accepted in the right spirit...............there are ordinary Singaporeans like me who feel a loss in the declining use of our mother dialects.............

VISIT TO THE VET - PART 4
Mon. 2nd Mar 2009
Another visit to the vet tonight for Max!
Although his constipation problem seems to be getting better, we noticed him having problem keeping his eyes open last night and this morning and saw that his 'mata kuching' were cloudy. So, no choice and it's off to see Dr Jean Sim once again........
At the examination table, during the usual struggle while being held down, Max did a 'Body in Motion' and presented Jean Sim with one precious nugget. So, constipation not a problem for now, hopefully.......
The eye problem may or may not be serious, depending on how well he response to the eye-drop treatment (PRED FORTE - prednisoione acetate, Allergan). And the $ damage this time:
consultation $25.00
eye drop $16.00
GST $ 2.87
Total $43.87

MakanBuddies File - Mee Siam Caterer
2nd March 2009
Many danzbuddies asked for details of the caterer who supplied the mee siam at our party last Saturday. Details are as follows
Contact: Rosli @ HP : 96830395
Hajah Mona Kitchen
No. 81 Newton Hawker Centre
And here's photo of Rosli with his sister and mother...........they run a family business and are always friendly and obliging, they give great value for money and provide good service and are a joy to deal with. You can get good satay, lontong, kueh kueh - whatever you need for a good traditional 'kampong party'.
Don't forget to tell Rosli you're from Tanglin CC danbuddies club when you order.
Danzbuddies Wild West Shindig - Feb 28th
Sat. 28th Feb 2009
The 'Wild Wild West ' party theme proved to be a hit with the crowd and we had lots of fun playing 'cowboys and indians'.......The 'Red Bandana Gang' got rounded up and learned not to 'tangle with the Sheriff'.....
The big Chief 'Queen of Sway' and her danzbuddies wanted to know why their tepee is so small..............
The Sheriff found the tepee building contractor responsible and put her under arrest...............
The danzbuddies line dance party on Saturday February 28th saw another full house of 148 participants. Our offer of the usual table-seating arrangement, a nice meal of mee siam and kueh-kueh, free flow of drinks, good playlist of 76 popular dances, plus a newly renovated air-conditioned hall proved irresistible to the many guests who decided to attend our party...
