danzbuddies Wednesday Class - new dances

hi danzbuddies,

here are details of new dances we are sharing this week:

- "La Maria" by Jocelyne Pim. 48 count, 4 wall, beginner level dance. Using a nice rhumba beat number 'Pobre La Maria' by Luis Enrique Mejia Godoy. Steps are very easy without tags / restarts - a no stress dance.

- "Not Without Us" by Ria Vos. 32 count, 4 wall, intermediate level dance. Music used is 'Not Without Us' by DJ Otzi, a rather fast paced number but it goes well with the dance steps......

- "What!" by Frankie Cull. 64 count, 2 wall, intermediate level dance. The dance goes well with the nice Christina Aguilera number "But I'm A Good Girl".

danzbuddies Wednesday Class - new dances

1st March 2010

hi danzbuddies,

here are details of new dances to be taught this week.....

- 'Adios My Darling' by DJ Dan & Wynette. 64 counts, 2 walls, beginner level. No tag , no restart. Very nice song 'Vaya Con Dios' by Heather Myles who gave it a nice country flavour with a rumba beat. Dance steps are well choreographed and easy to master.....a great dance with good promise.

- 'Bobbi With An I' by Rachael McEnaney. 48 counts. 2 walls. beginner level. No tag, no restart, no stress! The song is 'Bobbi With An I' by Phil Vasser - nice country number, a bit fast. Steps are quite easy.

- ' Lover's Heart' by Francien Sittrop. 32 counts, 4 walls, intermediate level. The song used is a Boyz 2men version of 'Cupid' - quite a nice treatment to this song with a 'slow segment' towards the end. You'll need to do a 'slow count - waltz beat' tag during this segment (at end of wall 8).
Another good dance with promise.....

danzbuddies party and health talk - 21st Nov 2009

Saturday 21st November 2009

Over one hundred danzbuddies and friends came together to listen to a health talk on Cervix Cancer conducted by Dr. Lisa Wong from the Singapore General Hospital on 21st Nevember - it was our second line dance party for November. The talk and line dance party was organised by the danzbuddies on behalf of Tangin CC SCEC.
The one-hour talk and Q&A session was followed by our usual brand of line dancing and makan party. A big 'thank you' to all who came in support, especially those danzbuddies who did 'dj duty' while we were in the other hall for the Salsa Club session......

danzbuddies Wednesday Class - new dances

hi danzbuddies,

REMINDER - We start a new 8-module session this Wednesday. Let your friends know if they wish to join the class. Please bring your class fees if you have not done so.......

Dances to be shared this week are as follows:

- 'Baby Bolly' by Maureen Bullock. 32 count, 4 wall, beginner level. 1 tag and restart on wall 6. There are many dances using the 'Jai Ho' song - we find this simple version to be the best and easiest to do. Love the various hand movements, really go well with the song. A great dance for our 'Bollywood ' theme party this weekend!

- 'Solo Por Amor' by Peter Klutke. 64 count, 4 wall, intermediate level. Danced to a nice 'latin-beat' song 'Por Amor' by Thalia. Although this is a 64-count dance the steps are easy with a few mirrorred and repeat steps. Should go well with the class.

- 'Break The Dawn' by Neville Fitzgerald, Paul McAdam & Peter Metelnik. 48 count, 4 wall, intermediate level. A popular dance, good music by Michelle Williams - 'We Break The Dawn'. Steps are not the standard, usual type, not easy but should be not too much of a problem either.

- 'Cumbia Semana' by Ira Weisburd. 48 count, 1 wall, beginner level. Cute song - 'Fin De Semana' by Fito Olivares. Steps are real easy - another of those 'no-stress' type dance.

danzbuddies Celebration Party

Saturday, 24th October 2009

The Tanglin CC line dance party on Saturday 24th October saw our danzbuddies having a double celebration - it was time to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Tanglin Senior Citizen's Dance Club and my birthday, the first time it falls on a line dance party night. And it was so great to see so many of the danzbuddies coming to join in the fun.........

There were plenty to eat - nasi briyani and masala chicken from Brindal's, courtesy of danzbuddy Elizabeth Ling plus, each table had brought their BYO dishes. And there was plenty to drink - a 'wine bar' was set up and we had a great 'wine tasting' session (see following blog for the 'Wine Tasting Notes')

We even had many rounds of boisterious 'champagne yam seng' sessions as everyone at each table rose to the occassion to sing 'Happy Birthday' to the birthday boy...........

A big 'Thank You' to all of you for your best wishes and the creative 'momentos'. Also my appreciation to Xiao Li of the Tanglin CC Cafe for the gift of 'birthday noodle' dish she specially made for me at dinner time.......
Thank you to both danzbuddies Wednesday/Friday and Sunday groups for the TWO birthday cakes presented - a lot of thought had gone into selecting, ordering and getting me the cakes......really appreciate this. Thanks also to the many 'volunteer deejays' - great job done ! Most of all , thanks for just being there for us and for giving me such a Happy Birthday..............
