Hi danzbuddies,
Dances to be shared this week are as follows:
- 'Pussy Swing' by Oli Geir & Hugrun. 48 count - 2 wall - intermediate level. Danced to the song ' Pussy Swing' by Catz Club. One tag and one restart. A well-choreographed and nice dance.
- 'Baila' by Pat Stot. 72 count - 4 wall - intermediate level. No tag , No restart. Don't be intimidated by the '72 count' description - the steps are easy to manage. Song 'Baila La Tierra' by David Bustamante is quite nice, has strong enough beats to carry the dance through.
- 'She-Wolf' by Levi J. Hubbard. 32 count - 2 wall - beginner level. Song - 'She-Wolf' is by Shakira. A nice easy dance. One tag after 4th wall.
We will also bring back the following two 'oldies' :
- 'Big Bad Wolf ' by Ross Brown - a good companion dance to 'She-Wolf' , we thought. 64 count - 2 wall - fun dance. Song used is 'Little Red Ridinghood' by Cartoons DK.
- ' My Guy' - by Rachael McEnaney. 64 count - 2 wall - beginner level .we are using the song 'My Guy' by Scooter Lee. A good favourite from the past.

danzbuddies Wednesday Class - new dances
hi danzbuddies,
here are details of dances to be shared this week........
- 'Evacuate The Dance Floor' by Mike Hitchen. 64 count, 2 wall, intermediate level, no tag, no restart. Danced to a nice song by Cascada. Steps throughout the eight sections are quite easy to manage - once you get through the many turns in the first section....! Seems to be a popular dance at various parties.
- ' Love Struck' by Francien Sittrop. 64 count, 4 wall, intermediate level. 2 tags, 3 restarts. Song is by V Factory, a good strong 'Disco Rock' type tempo which gives the dance its punch........a challenging dance but enjoyable when you get it right.
- 'Paradise' by Marie Sorensen. 32 count, 4 wall, Beginner Level. One restart at Wall 2 (after 16 counts). Song used is 'Isle Of Paradise' by Blue Lagoon. This is same song used for earlier 'Isle of Paradise' dance. This dance seems easier and we hope will go well with the many danzbuddies who prefer such 'no stress' type dances.
- 'Playing For Change Stand By Me' by Stella Cabeca. 32 count, 4 wall, Beginner level. A very easy dance with no tag, no restart. Fascinating song! - an award winning documentary called 'Playing for Change: Peace Through Music' The song 'Stand By Me' is played and recorded by various singers and musicians all over the world with the players adding their parts to the beautiful song as it travels the globe...check out the youtube video.........great stuff.

danzbuddies Wednesday class - dances to share
11 August 2009
hi danzbuddies,
List of dances to be shared this week are as follows:
NEW DANCES:
ALL 3 new dances are from Peter & Alison, The Dance Factory. Mmm, this factory seems quite productive lately....
- ' More Than I Can Be' , 64 count, 2 wall , intermediate level. The song is a fast-beat version of 'You Raise Me Up' by Deja Vu. A great rendition of a wonderful song - for those who are interested here is link to video with the lyrics. The dance is fairly easy, although very fast paced, like an aerobic dance. No tag, restart.....so enjoy.
- 'Be Happy', 64 count, 4 wall, intermediate level. Another nice song - this one 'Don't Worry Be Happy' . Again version used is a faster beat rendition, this one by the Hermes House Band.
Another easy to manage dance, yet not too simple to be boring. Note - there is one tag and restart during wall 5, after 40 counts .
- 'L.O.V.E. Love' , 64 count, 4 wall, beginner level. One restart during wall 3, after count 16.
Although a beginner level dance the dance is fast, so you'll need to stay focused and know the routine well. Song is 'L.O.V.E.' by V V Brown.
We will also do a walk through of Celina & Hoe's dance , 'Here With You', the danced they taught at our National Day Celebration party last Saturday. Watch the video of Celina& Hoe dancing it at our danzbuddies August 8th National Day Celebration Party.
Also to be shared are some favourite old dances like 'L.O.V.E.' , 'Love Love Love' , 'Splish Splash', 'Diana' , 'Mony Mony' and 'Pata Pata' , dances we want to feature at our September party.

danzbuddies National Day Celebration Party
Saturday 8th August 2009
Tanglin CC danzbuddies organised a successful National Day Celebration Line Dance Party on Saturday, 8th August 2009 with 110 participants in attendance. All (well, almost all) came decked out in our National colours and the sea of red and white in the hall helped to set a joyous mood for the five and a half hour celebration party.
All were eager to pose for our 'photographers 0n duty' - Alan Khoo and William Mok who took pain to go from table to table to capture each memorable shot.......
And then they danced - all 80 dances listed in the party playlist. The good selection of dances kept many of the participants on the dance floor throughout the 5 hours of dance time.....
Our friends and fellow line dance choreographers, Cellina and Hoe were good enough to do a quick teach of their new dance - 'Here With You', a 48 count intermediate dance using a Michael Jackson song, 'You Are Not Alone'. A great dance , well received by all who tried it. Celina even caught the action on video (click to view the video).

A Big 'Thank You' to Celina and Hoe for taking time to come and share their dance - we were pleased to present a "Michael Jackson' T-shirt each to both of them.
Dinner time came and everyone had a sumptuous 'Chicken Nasi Briyani' treat - catered from Hajah Monah Kitchen. It was the first time we tried a 'Nasi Briyani' dinner - and all seems well pleased with it. Yummy!
Then it was time to cut the 'Birthday Cake'. The song 'Stand Up For Singapore' played and it was a special moment for us all as we gathered in front to sing the popular National Day song out loud .

danzbuddies Wednesday class - new dances
hi danzbuddies,
For this week, we will be introducing the following dances:
- 'Heads Up' by Teresa & Vera. 64 count, 4 wall, intermediate level with 1 simple tag (end of wall 2) and 1 restart (Wall 5). Good song 'Keeping Your Head Up' by Girls Can't Catch.
- 'Spanish Fly' by Debbie McLaughlin to song of the same name by Eric Benet. 32 count, 4 wall, intermediate level. A nice "8 and 1" cha cha beat dance. Except for the full spin turn at the end, the dance is quite easy to do.....so, dun worry, if you don't fancy doing the full turn - replace it with a "hold" for 1 count, simple as that.
- 'Argentina' another great dance from Maggie Gallagher. 64 count, 4 wall, intermediate level.
Song is 'Don't Cry For Me Argentina'. The version by Generation Pop gives a fast pop beat to the song. You may want to try out some tango 'spanish arms' movements.
Two more dances to be shared on Friday are:
- 'San Francisco Cha' by Kathy Hunyadi. The song "San Francisco' by Scott McKenzie should be familiar to everyone. 32 count, 2 wall, beginner level. A very easy dance, will be no problem for all.
- 'Here With You' a new dance choreographed by our own Celina & Hoe using a Michael Jackson
number - 'You Are Not Alone'. 48 count, 2 wall, intermediate level.

danzbuddies 10th Anniversary Celebration - 'Hawaiian Nite' Theme Party
Saturday, 1st August 2009
Our danzbuddies, their families and friends turned up in full force (all 240 of them) to help make our 10th Anniversary Celebration Party the best we've ever had! It helped that we had a great venue - The Stewords Riverboat at Marina South Pier. We had the run of the whole Riverboat - with nice dining Restaurant on the Main Deck, Line Dancing and Ukulele Band performance on Deck 2 and al fresco dining and fireworks watching on the top deck.
And a big 'Thank You' to all our friends and guests for taking time to join us in our celebration of 10 years of friendship through dance......
Grateful thanks to Alan Khoo and William Mok for the photographs.....
I hope everyone enjoyed the party as much we did - this was not just another ordinary party....this was an event that was born and executed 'straight from the heart'.......one that was filled with a lot of warmth, love, creativity, kindness, sharing and above all , the essence of true friendship! And so, cheers to our tens years of Friendship and fellowship - and to more great years ahead together as buddies in dance....

The decor was nice and gave us a feel of being at a Hawaiian beach resort. It was good to see so many danzbuddies in grasskirts, with flowers in their hair and garlands round their necks. All those Hawaiian attires really add so much colour to the party. A big 'Thank You' to all those who dressed up for the ocassion.
All were having such a great time dancing away when the proceedings were suddenly interrupted - "Miss Hawaii" made her appearance and pandemonium broke out in the dance hall with everyone rushing forward to mob the scantilly dressed Hawaii lady.....
