It was time again for the Singapore Recreation Club's Charity Line Dance Party and on Saturday night, our danzbuddies joined some 500 line dancers at the air-conditioned tented venue on the Padang for 4 hours of great line dancing fun. In addition to the line dancing, there were stage performances by the ever-popular 'Matthew and The Mandarins', Indonesian singers - Queen and Hanche (the Elvis of Indonesia) and dancers from the Jamiyah Children's Home. The Charity Line Dance event raised a sum of $28,000 for the Jamiyah Children's Home - additional sums donated brought the total to $32,000. The Jamiyah Singapore board and residents were most grateful and showed their appreciation by showing up in great numbers to dance with the crowd.
We are happy to be part of the team which helped put this event together. A big 'Thank You' to all danzbuddies for your donations and for turning up in support of the event.
And a big 'Thank You' to Matthew Tan and the Mandarins, Queen and Hanche - they came and performed at the event on a 'FOC' basis, as they did the last two years before.....we really salute them for their kind generosity....
