Looking Back - A Year to Remember!

hi danzbuddies

It's 2 0 1 0 already! We wish all danzbuddies and friends a HAPPY NEW YEAR !
- as we move on to another year ahead - let's take a look back at 2009 and recall the many great moments we had together - the many interesting theme parties, the various Charity events, all those trips overseas, the many health talks and health screenings, etc .
January saw us enjoying many Lunar New Year get-togethers and makan parties.... Our danzbuddies also did their bit for Charity during the Lunar New Year period by sponsoring and playing host to twenty Jamiyah Children Home kids to the Chingay Parade and Dance Party.....
On 14th of February, we joined Tanglin WEC in celebrating Valentine's Day with a most enjoyable 'Love Is In The Air ' Social Dance party at Pek Kio CC.

For the month of February, we were not able to use Tanglin CC facilities as they were under renovation. Nevertheless, we still had many wonderful jam sessions at clubhouse in Siok Im's condo...which brought back to us lots of memories - for it was here that we used to jam in our early days as dznzbuddies......At the end of February, we got back to a newly renovated Tanglin CC Hall for a most memorable 'Wild Wild West' theme party .
In March, we started the danzbuddies 'Social Dance' Interest Group with Dance Zone instructress Felicia Tan coming to teach us various dance forms (cha cha, rock 'n' roll, O.B. Cha Cha, Square Rumba, Salsa, etc. ). The group is going strong and we look forward to growing this group in the New Year.......

Our parties - whether they are held indoor or outdoors continue to attract good crowds with tickets selling out often.......we are grateful to our danzbuddies and friends for this great support

March and April saw us organising two 'Health Screening' events - our March LD party was held in conjunction with Tanglin CC's 'Colorectal Cancer Awareness' campaign where we gave out test-kits for those registered for the cancer screening event. In April, we had our annual 'General Health Screening' exercise for our Senior Citizens' group.........
In May, a group of us went on our first trip of the year to Penang - it was such a great trip - we told ourselves 'we'll be back....'On May 17th, we joined other Moulmein grassroots participants on a 'Family Day' event at the Singapore Flyer and the Marina Barrage. Our danzbuddies put up a creditable 'Line Dance Performance' for Guest 0f Honour, RADM (NS) Lui Tuck Yew.
We had a really busy month in June. On Sunday the 6th, some 80 danzbuddies and family members visited th Asian Civilisation Museum to see the special Emperor Kangxi's Exhibition. we also visited the Peranakan Museum and even enjoyed a spot of Line Dancing when we adjourned for 'Hi-Tea' on the Riverboat........
June 7th, Sunday - a day to remember for our Sunday danzbuddies as we played host to a group of line dancers from Adelaide, led by none other than Peter 'Bicycle Waltz' Heath and wife Liz.
and on 7th June Sunday night, danzbuddies were out in force to meet and dance with Jan Wyllie, also from Australia , for a rip-roaring Country Line Dance Jamboree at ACS Barker Road.... On July 3rd we hosted and treated danzbuddies to an 'Appreciation Dinner' at the Riverboat to mark our ten years together as danzbuddies and to thank every one for their support
On 18th July, we had our annual 'Orange Ribbon' Party to mark Racial Harmony week in Singapore
August 1st saw us back at the Riverboat again - it was the day we celebrated the danzbuddies Tenth Anniversary with a great 'Hawaiian Nite' party - truly a night to remember. The following week saw us in another big party - this time we were celebrating our National Day. It was another memorable 'sell-out' event..........
September 11th, always a day to remember - we celebrated 'Teachers' Day' as well as Rosemary's birthday Our September 12th Party featured another 'Health Promotion' - a 'Diabetes Awareness Campaign' was organised to provide information on Diabetes and its prevention.......We made our 2nd trip of the year to Penang - this time, we stayed at the brand new 'Hard Rock Hotel'. It was a wonderful trip with lots of dancing, eating, shopping and fun.......

October proved to be another busy month for us - we started with a 'Mid Autumn Festival 'Party on the 3rd.
This was followed by our participation in the SRC Charity Line Dance Event held at the Padang on October 18th, helping to raise $45,000 for the Jamiyah Children Home. October 24th was another special day as danzbuddies came together to help K C celebrate his birthday.....
We started two new Interest Groups in October - first was the Salsa Dance Club with instructions provided by Felicia Chia. Next, we started the Goldhill Ukulele Band which attracted quite a few enthusiasts....
On November 7th we celebrated Deepavali by having a 'Bollywood' Theme Party - it was a real scream to see the number of danzbuddies turning up in full 'indian outfits'.............. We organised yet another 'Health Promotion' event on November 21st with Dr. Lisa Wong from SGH coming to talk to us on Cervical Cancer.... November 26th to December 2nd had a group of us go on a trip to Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Macau - another memorable trip to remember........definitely.
On December 12th we joined Tanglin WEC in organising yet another successful 'Yellow Ribbon' Charity event in aid of the HighPoint Thrift Shop....... Our Christmas Celebration Party took place on December 19th......another great party it was.... Last but not the least, was our December 31st Countdown Party with the 'Las Vegas Chinatown' Theme. It was so nice to see everyone enjoying the Roulette and Card Games in between the dances.... So, it was a really great year for us - we hope you have enjoyed all those moments we shared together as much as we do. We are looking forward to another great year together in 2 0 1 0......
