danzbuddies Wednesday class new dances

Hi danzbuddies,

Here are details of the new dances to be shared this week.....

- 'Hot Summer Romance' by Francien Sittrop. 32 count, 4 wall, beginner level. Great song used 'Everybody' - Summer Sunshine mix by DJ Bobo.

- 'Heart & Soul' by Teresa & Vera. 64 count, 4 wall, intermediate level. One restart and one tag.
Song used is 'Heart & Soul' by Gisselle. Nice song and easy-to-manage steps make this an enjoyable dance.

- 'You and I' by Oli Geir & Hugrun from Iceland. A 'Part A, Part B' phrased dance, 4 wall, intermediate level. This is one of those interesting two-part dance - with a slow Part A (1- wall) and a faster Part B (4 -wall). All these may seem daunting, but it really quite easy, once you master the steps in both the parts.

danzbuddies Wednesday Class - new dances

Hi danzbuddies,

New dances to be shared this week are as follows:

- 'Operator Cha Cha' another simple yet so enjoyable dance by Darren Baily (he gave us 'Action'). 32 count, 4 wall, beginner level. Nice country 'cha cha' song 'Operator Operator' by Eddy Raven. You'll want to get up and dance to this song!

- 'Vaya Con Dios' a slow waltz dance from Maggie Gallagher. 48 count, 4 wall, beginner level. The song of the same name is by Freddy Fender. A nice, fairly easy dance - there are some full turns, but not too difficult to manage.

- 'Games People Play' from Malaysian choreographer Ms Leong Mei Ling. 64 count, 4 wall, intermediate level. Great 'cha cha beat' song 'Me, Myself and I' by Vitamin C. A challenging dance, but one worth learning.

Here are details about the dance we introduced last Saturday at the Tanglin CC party:

- 'Just Perfection' by Alan Haywood. 32 count, 4 wall, beginner level. The song used is 'Poetry In Motion' by Johnny Tillotson - another 'make-you-wanna-dance' song . Go ahead and do the 'twist' in place of the vine steps........Should enjoy the same success as the other dance we introduced - 'Wanna Dance'

We will also be doing a 'Hawaiian' dance during our August 1st Anniversary Celebration "Hawaiian Nite" party:

- 'Pearly Shells From The Ocean' by Irene Groundwater. 32 count , 2 wall, beginner level. A real easy fun dance, to be done with "Miss Hawaii".......

danzbuddies 'Racial Harmony Week' Party

Saturday, 18th July 2009

It's our annual party to celebrate 'Racial Harmony Week' and danzbuddies came dressed in orange in keeping with the "Orange Ribbon' celebration theme. As we now know, the colour orange represents universal friendship, kinship and familial ties.

A poster exhibition and a 'Racial Harmony' Quiz were part of the evening's programme.

Some danzbuddies also enjoyed doing their share of the cha cha cha, disco rock and the twist.
As usual, the closing dance of 'Rita Waltz' had everyone laughing away and we ended the party in a happy mood......

Hi danzbuddies,

Please be reminded - we are starting new 8-week module - fees collection tonight.

Our new dances for this week are as follows:

- 'Action' by Darren Bailey, Easy 32 count, 2 wall, beginner level. note , the step-sheet says it is 4 wall, but it's a 2 wall dance. Nice heavy beat in the song 'A Little Less Talk And A Lot More Action' by Toby Keith makes it very danceable. Enjoy the heelbounc, hip sway part..........

- 'All Kinds Of Everything' by Maria Tao. 54 count, 4 wall, intermediate level, waltz dance. One restart and one easy tag. Love the song....sang by Dana, an old old song - winning entry in the 1970 Eurovision Song Contest.

- 'Antidote' by Robbie McGowan Hickie. 64 count, 4 wall, intermediate level. There are some challenging full turns, but they can be replaced with simpler 'walk walk' and 'straight forward cha cha cha steps'...not to worry

Appreciation Dinner for danzbuddies

Friday, July 3, 2009

It will be a night to remember for a long time to come - what a blast we had on board the Stewords Riverboat at Marina South. The ocassion.......the Appreciation Dinner given to danzbuddies and friends for the loyal support given to us in the last 10 years at Tanglin CC Dance Club. We started with 8 members in July 1999, today we are more than 80 in membership - its been a great journey we had as danzbuddies and we sincerely thank all our members for making it so enjoyable and fun......

Rosemary kicked off the party with a few words of 'Welcome' and 'Thanks' and then it was dance, dance, dance!

Dinner time - and everyone sat down to enjoy their dinner choice from 10 great Tex-Mex menu items. There was the BBQ Herb Chicken, Grilled Dory, Salmon Velcruz, Grilled Chicken Pasta, San Antonio Pork Chop and BBQ Baby Back Ribs, a big favourite for the night.....and more.
Then, it was time to pop the 'champagne on ice'.......ten bottles, no less - and to cut the Anniversary cake.
Representatives from the Wednesday class, Friday danzbuddies and the Sunday danzbuddies groups came forth to help pop the champagne, a nice pink rose cremant from Burgundy.......And so, it was 'yum seng' time and drink, and drink we all did.............
Some lucky guy even had the chance to take a bottle of the champagne home - in a lucky draw.
More dancing continued, we even went downstairs to do a demonstration of various line, cha cha cha, rock 'n' roll, disco rock and other dances to the regular guests of the Riverboat Restaurant. This was at the request of the guests who were fascinated by the way the danzbuddies were enjoying themselves with their non-stop dancing upstairs on the Upper Deck......
A big 'Thank You' for the gifts received from the danzbuddies.........
We gave thanks to Daryl Saw from the Riverboat, and also wish the Riverboat's Tex-Mex Restaurant Group best wishes as they are also celebrating their 10th Anniversary.
And a big 'Thank You' to Daryl's mum, Alice for being such a great hostess - we appreciate her patience with us all and for putting up with all our nonsense.....

A big big 'Thank You' to Alan Khoo and William Mok for supplying all these great photo shoots.
It took a lot (of time, money and hard work) putting the event together, but the experience of our night together is priceless.
