danzbuddies 11th Anniversary Celebration Party - Part 2

We were honoured to have Acting Minister for Information , Communications and the Arts and MP for Tanjong Pagar GRC - Mr. Lui Tuck Yew as our Guest of Honour. As usual, he arrived right on time at 6.30 pm which allowed us to speedily proceed with our programme.

The MC called upon Mr Lui to made presentation of Tokens of Appreciation to danzbuddies members who had been with the Club for more than 10 years - congratulations to Koh Kee Ang, Irene Foo, Joyce Quek and Charlene Quek for getting this 'long service' award. Special Appreciation Awards went to Alan Khoo for his tireless work as the 'Club Photographer' and to Rosemary Ang for leading the danzbuddies for all these 11 years.

Mr Lui also presented 'Tokens of Appreciation' to members of the Goldhill Gardening Club for their contributions in winning for Goldhill NC three top national awards in the Singapore Garden Festival and the Community In Bloom gardening competitions
In appreciation for his support and encouragement to both the Line Dance and Gardening Clubs, we presented Mr. Lui with a copy each of the Photobook 'token of appreciation'.
Dinner was served and we were entertained by the Goldhill N C Ukulele band.....which had everyone singing along, especially during the 'Count On Me' number......

A big 'Thank You' to members of the Goldhill N C Uke Team............

We also thank Ms Doris Tan for helping with MP's 'walk-about' during dinner time to offer 'keropok' to all participants......

After dinner, we invited the Guest of Honour to join us in doing the 'Electric Slide' - and he gamely did us the honour of leading the dance......

Mr Lui also joined in doing the 'rock n roll' with the other crowd inside the main restaurant where the live band was holding sway with our social dance group......

Back at the al fresco arena it was time to cut our 'birthday cake'.....danzbuddy Soh Lay Kuan made a speech and a presentation to Rosemary and KC on behalf of the Wednesday and Friday danzbuddies.....

It was an emotional moment for many members - more so for those long-time danzbuddies who had stuck together with us through thick and thin, especially during those years when our tenure at Tanglin CC came under threat from the break-away group and we had to fight for our rightful place at Tanglin CC where we had come to call home.....
We are glad all that is behind us now...........and we had a wonderful party. We were fortunate to be able to watch the Fireworks display and the earlier Fighter Plane Flypast up-front from our party location.....

Once again - a big 'THANK YOU' to all our danzbuddies - you are the best , no the Betterest of all...!

Not forgetting - the usual big 'Thank You' to Alan Khoo for all the photographs you see in this blog....

See you all on the dance floor on August 14th at Tanglin CC for another rip-roaring party. It's our annual 'National Day Celebration' Party - so, do come in the preferred 'red-and-white' outfits........

danzbuddies Wednesday class - new dances

hi danzbuddies,

here are details of the new dances we are sharing for this week........

- 'Blue Night Cha' by Kim Ray. 32 count, 4 wall, beginner level. No Tag, no Restart. Nice song used - 'Blue Night' by Michael Learns To Rock'. A really easy 'no stress' dance....

- '100% Easy' by Celina Tan & Christopher Hoe. 48 count, 4 wall, beginner level dance. No tag, no restart ! Using the song 'It's So Easy' by Buddy Holly. Steps are easy to follow and go well with the song, making it a 'no stress' dance. Stepsheet is now on Yipee website, you can click on the dance title above to see the stepsheet and watch video of dance demo.

- 'Hip To Be Square' by Rob Fowler & Pedro Machado. 96 count, 4 wall, intermediate dance. A popular dance using a Huey Lewis & The News song 'Hip to Be Square'. Although there are 96 counts for the dance, the steps are fairly easy and with practice should be manageable. Watch out for the restart on wall 1 and the Bridge during wall 4.

We'll share a easy dance for Friday and Sunday:

- 'Sweet Senorita' by Jan Wyllie. 32 count, 2 wall, beginner level. Great song 'Sweet Senorita' by Chris James. Nice easy steps to go with this great country song.

danzbuddies 'Orange Ribbon' Party

Saturday 17 July 2010

It looked like a 'Dutch Soccer Supporters' gathering with so many people in orange gears but no, it was the Tanglin CC Dance Club's danzbuddies and friends celebrating 'Racial Harmony Week' with an 'Orange Ribbon' line dance party....our thanks to all those who joined us and went 'orange' for the day...

Racial Harmony is so often taken for granted and its important that, once a year, we remind ourselves about the history behind the many 'Orange Ribbon' events we hold every July in Singapore

The hall was filled to capacity - thanks, once again to all danzbuddies and many friends who came in support of the event..

Dinner time featured our favourite 'nasi lemak'......

and free flow of hot and cold beverages

It was good to see everyone having a good time - dancing, eating, chit-chatting......
Everyone agreed it was a great party........
even our youngest member said so............

Thank you to all danzbuddies for your continued support and friendship.
A big 'thank you' to Allan again for the photos....

See you all at our next party.......
the danzbuddies "11th Anniversary Celebration" Party on 31st July 2010.......
