danzbuddies jam session - 'wine & cheese nite'

Friday, 17th April, 2009

We were still in a 'wine tasting' mood and so, for tonight's jam session, we brought along two bottles:

First a white wine from New South Wales - a "Richland Westend Estate 2008 Sauvignon Blanc" bought from Wine Connection -$24.80. Nice yellow-gold hue, very aromatic, dry, with ripe tropical and citrus fruit flavours. It had a long fresh crisp finish. I was worried it may be too young to drink but was pleasantly surprised it was good and proved a great match for the soft brie cheese we had.

Next bottle was a red, from Victoria - a Lindemans 'Premier Selection' 2007 Shiraz Cabernet. Bought from Cold Storage, $28.00. Deep ruby colour, rather dry and high in tannin. Fairly pronounced flavours of plums and blackcurrants. Also went well with the cheese.

Both bottles were polished off in double quick time........and so too the cheese. And the dancing.........? well, the drinkers seemed a wee bit wobbly after all that drinking.........
